Yellow Daisy Festival Recap

My mom Dianne and I attended our first ever Yellow Daisy Festival at Stone Mountain Park as vendors this past month in September!!

For anyone that doesn’t know I own a small jewelry business under the name South Indigo Company where my mom and I make handcrafted creations that are grounded in Southwestern sensibility and style. We create our beautiful jewelry with semi-precious / natural stones (jasper, moonstone, turquoise, etc.), glass and metals alloys including sterling, brass, copper and gold. We also make leather/ cowhide bags, chokers and bracelets using antique pins, rhinestones and other jewelry findings.

This festival took it ALL out of me! It was a four day festival (biggest one i’ve done yet) and we did not stop working from morning till night ( can you say tired!!) We live around an hour away from Stone Mountian Park so we opted for a hotel near the grounds since we had to be up at 6:30 AM every morning. I knew it was going to be an extra long weekend when I woke up the first night with bruises covering me head to toe from setting up the day before and I had a strange line of bites up my leg (I near flipped because I thought they were bed bugs— still undecided & still grossed out!!)

This wagon here is the best little invention ever! I highly recommend getting one from you local Sams Club because it is lightweight, folds super easy and I use it for many other things not just jewelry events.

Bringing the wagon and as well as MULTIPLE gallons of Starbucks cold brew iced coffee made this weekend a little easier and kept me awake and fueled! Thank the lord for iced coffee!!

I have never been so tired and so sleep deprived but this festival was oh so worth it and I will defiantly be attending every year to come :). I encounter so many interesting people from all over the United States and really enjoyed getting to talk and meet everyone who stopped by my booth. Its funny because I used to be almost deathly shy but things have certainly changed as making connections and meeting new people may be my favorite part of this job!

It was pretty dang hot at this festival but I was still determined to add a little fall to the tent with some pumpkins and Chrysanthemums ! The set up for me (although tiring) is one of the most exciting parts because I try to get really creative. I try and set up different for every event to spice it up. I believe the set up is just as important at the product ant that is why I try and make it as inspiring as I can :)

We are also starting to create designs incorporating lava rocks. The lava rocks hold the aroma of your essential oils for up to four days, balance your chakras and have natural healing properties. This went over really well and was so much fun specially since I have been getting more into oils lately!

A huge thank you to my mama and partner for helping me create and sell all weekend long :) She rocks and helped so much with the creation of the items to the set up!

We are also doing some chain designs. Right now we get our chain imported from Italy and have both sterling silver and sterling plated gold with stones, opal and all types of fun pendants! We are in the process of adding in some solid gold items and a mens line to the shop!

Everyday after the festival we went downtown and ate at the cutest little homegrown restaurant called the Sweet Potato Cafe.

If you go you HAVE TO try the sweet potato fries and their sweet potato pie because it is THAT GOOD! We seriously ate their EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT!!!
